iOS 18 got its second developer beta and debuted at WWDC 2024 two weeks ago, adding two features that were not in the original beta, according to reports from current users [iPhone Mirroring is a new feature that crosses over iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, allowing users to open their iPhone screen on a Mac This is one of the biggest upgrades Apple has made to their software this year, and it's safe to say we're a little excited
SharePlay Screen Sharing, on the other hand, is a FaceTime tool that allows remote control of another device The screen can also be annotated, which is useful for teaching (or being taught) how to use a particular app, iPhone, iPad, or Mac, or to look over a document or collaborative project
These features are only available in the developer beta of iOS 18, meaning you need a paid account to access them, but the presence of iPhone mirroring and SharePlay screen sharing is exciting for us regular iPhone users! Public Beta Since public betas are usually more stable versions of previous developer betas, expect the first iOS 18 public beta to be available soon on all compatible iPhones, even if you do not have an Apple Developer account
Oddly enough, coincidentally, these two features are the ones that will not be available in the EU if Apple's complaints about security cannot be reconciled with EU competition law The dispute also affects features with Apple Intelligence, which no one will be able to try until the end of this year
