For fans of Terry Gilliam's 1981 film of the same name, a new “Time Bandits” is unlikely, but this reimagining (or rather reworking) by Taika Waititi, who also plays the High Priestess, and Jemaine Clement, cast as the pure villain, is worth a look. The thieves this time may not be dwarves, but they have a map that makes time travel possible and are equally inept, and Kevin is still an innocent nerd, played brilliantly by Kal-El Tuck, who pulls you into this science fiction adventure through the wardrobe.

Loyalty and respect for the original serves the show well, but the producers are not afraid to push it into new territory and historical eras for a new generation of science fiction fans to enjoy.
