Apple will not release the Vision Pro 2 anytime soon - but a less expensive headset may appear next year

The Apple Vision Pro may not have been the huge success that recent Apple products have enjoyed, but that doesn't mean Apple is giving up on mixed reality just yet; according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman, Apple is still working on a second-generation Vision Pro, a less expensive VR headset, and smart glasses, among other follow-on devices.

Gurman's Power on Newsletter claims that a lower-cost version of the headset “will probably appear as early as next year.”

Gurman did not say when the second-generation Vision Pro will appear, or what Apple will do to reduce the cost of the lower-cost model. He did not specify what he would do. Gurman is, however, quite skeptical that such a device would lead to an increase in the popularity of the Vision series as a whole.

“What's the point? Devices in this category have not yet captured the imagination of consumers, and we don't know when they will,” Garman says. Unless inexpensive models cost less than $1,500, Vision devices will probably remain a niche product.”

That's right. [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...] [...]
