Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, possible major update to fix camera issues - but not until next month

Anyone rocking a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra should keep an eye out for the next big update - because the August update may end up with some major improvements to your camera. That's because the August update may result in significant improvements to your camera. Better yet, this update could fix camera issues that users have been complaining about for some time.

Ice Universe claims that this update will help optimize features including white balance, HDR, over-processing, overexposure, video zoom, and face shots. However, they also add that there will be no optimization for telephoto lenses or night mode when zoom magnification exceeds 10x. That would suck if you plan to take moon photos.

Ice Universe hopes that these two things will be fixed in a future update, but there is no guarantee that this will actually happen.

Still, it is great that Samsung continues to fix some of the camera issues that users have experienced. The Galaxy S24 Ultra's camera is a sore point for many people, and a quick Google search shows that people are complaining on various community support forums, including Reddit and Samsung's own community portal.

Samsung was originally rumored to be releasing a fix for the camera issue back in April, but towards the end of the month Ice Universe claimed the update had been delayed until June. It is now July and the update apparently will not be ready until next month. Clearly more work needed to be done before the problem could be fixed.

It is quite embarrassing that these things are still an issue six months after the Galaxy S24 Ultra's launch. Especially since Samsung plans to unveil two Galaxy smartphones at Galaxy Unpacked tomorrow (July 10), the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and the Galaxy Z Flip 6.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra is still one of the best camera phones and regularly scores well in our 200 photo shoots - though it faces stiff competition from the likes of the Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, it still faces stiff competition from the Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Therefore, anything that can be done to improve the overall quality would give the camera an edge over the competition.

Let's hope this delay means that Samsung aims to fix everything at once rather than push multiple updates.
