Hello Strands fans! I have been writing this column long enough to know the tricks puzzle setters make with their themes. So when I saw the phrase "frame games" I knew I must be dealing with games involving frames.

Unfortunately, my mind immediately went to snooker, pool, and billiards, forgetting that today's spangram of bowling also involves frames. In other words, I had to give a clue, and that clue was PINS.

My knowledge of bowling is not great, but I had heard all the terms on the board, even the ones that don't immediately come to mind when you ask me to write an article about this sport: SPLIT, SPARE, and TURKEY. TURKEY) were quickly picked up from the three corners of the board. He then grabbed LANE and STRIKE to complete the bottom half.

Two remained in the top section; ALLEY was neatly spelled downwards in a straight line in the top right corner, with only "REGTUT" to decipher. Finally, I realized that the puzzle must be "GUTTER."
