Google Chrome Major Upgrade for iOS and Android - What You Need to Know

Google is making big changes to Chrome to make searching from your iPhone or Android phone as easy as it is on your laptop.

In a new blog post, search giant Google will add new Chrome actions for businesses, suggested shortcuts in search results, a redesigned address bar on tablets, and several other new updates to improve search on mobile devices Revealed.

Searching for local businesses will soon be even easier thanks to new Chrome Actions designed to save you time. For example, if you are searching for a restaurant, you can use the new shortcut buttons to call, get directions, or read reviews. This allows you to do more with fewer taps on your smartphone.

Google Chrome's address bar on Android and iOS will receive a similar upgrade, but with a more personalized touch. Instead of typing in exactly what you want, Google's browser will now show you past websites based on what you type into the address bar on your phone's browser.

For example, say you type "schedule" to see City Metro bus times. With this new feature, City Metro will appear at the top of your search suggestions every time you search for "schedule."

If you're not sure what you want to look for, you might want to take a look at what searches are currently trending on Google. On the best Android phones, clicking on the address bar from a new tab page in Chrome will bring up suggestions for trending searches. But now the feature is about to make its way to the iOS address bar as well.

Since not all the fun is on your phone, Google is also refreshing the Chrome address bar on the best iPads and the best Android tablets. This will allow them to take advantage of larger screens. Once enabled, it will remain visible below the drop-down menu in the address bar in case you want to return to the website you are currently browsing without having to reload the page.

Finally, Google will add live sports cards to Chrome's Discover Feed on the new tab page for iOS and Android. This will automatically update you with the status of games when your favorite teams are playing, based on teams you have followed or searched for in the past. Of course, you can always customize the Discover Feed using Chrome's three-dot menu.

While it's easier to search on your laptop or desktop, with these new features in Chrome, you might stick to using your phone or tablet instead.
