Lee Jung-jae of Season 2 of "Squid Game" Teases "Deeper Emotions" and Future Developments

It's been a little while since Netflix gave us any new information about "The Squid Game" Season 2, but lead actor Lee Jung Jae has dropped a big hint that this second chapter may be even more impressive.

In an interview with RadioTimes.com, Lee Jung Jae, who is currently starring in "The Acolyte" on Disney Plus, admits that he thinks Season 2 will be "even more interesting" than the first and that there are "even deeper emotions" at the heart of the story. "I think the script for Season 2 is even more interesting than Season 1, and there are new characters. So I think viewers will be really excited.

"One of the things I felt when I was reading the script is that the emotions that are discovered in season two are even deeper, and I think the audience will feel like, 'Where is this story going? ' because of the twists and turns that happen," Jung Jae said.

Not much is known about the plot of "Squid Game" Season 2. In the season, Song Ki-Hoon, played by Jung Jae, emerged as the winner of the 2020 Squid Game, plagued by guilt over everything he went through.

Season 1 finale. Gihoon decides to visit his daughter in Los Angeles ...... But when he found a recruiter handing out invitations to potential athletes, Gihoon took the card and called the number, demanding to know who was organizing another deadly competition. The voice on the other end ordered him to get on a plane, but Gihoon hung up and turned back to the airport, promising to pick up the organizer of the tournament. There we parted. Not surprisingly, more deadly trials await in "Squid Game" Season 2. When interviewed by Playlist, creator Dong-Hyuk Hwang admitted that the new season will feature "even better games than the first season."

On the casting front, we know that Lee Byung Hun will reprise his role as the villainous frontman. Gong Yoo and Wee Ha Jun will also return as Recruiter and undercover agent Hwang Juno, respectively. There will also be a lot of new stars, but their "Squid Game" Season 2 roles are not yet known. At least some of them must be new "Squid Game" competitors, though.

Officially, no exact "Squid Game" Season 2 release date is known; Netflix has confirmed that the series will return at some point in 2024, but that is all.

In May, Lee Jung-jae told Business Insider that the series will be available for streaming in December.
