Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference is an annual for people building software that works on a variety of Apple devices, from phones and tablets to watches and laptops. Features

Typically, past WWDCs included hardware announcements. But this year's edition sounds like it's mainly about AI and how iOS18 implements AI capabilities.

This year's edition of WWDC runs from 6/10 to 6/14. The event will begin late Monday, 6/10, with keynote speeches starting at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm BST.

We don't expect any new hardware to appear at WWDC2024, but we believe the emphasis is on AI. The keynote should focus on software updates such as iOS18, iPadOS18 and macOS15.

iOS18 and AI: Just before WWDC2024, there were reports that Apple would partner with OpenAI to bring generative AI capabilities to iOS18. Samsung, Google and Microsoft are ahead of AI, and Apple doesn't want to be left behind.

It may be a short-term partnership while Apple gets its bearings on AI, but it will open the ChatGPT service to Apple users.  It seems that Apple's in-house AI model is not ready for showtime yet. Beyond that, Apple should have its own large-scale language AI model codenamed ajax, which integrates that model into many of the iOS18 features. This includes AI-generated emojis and photos, summaries of emails and web pages, and automatic transcription of voice notes.  Siri2.0: While iOS18 comes with some AI features, such as integration with iMessage, Siri is expected to have the biggest update. Siri is trying to get a significant upgrade in terms of its intelligence. With AI, Siri2.0 allows you to use more commands using other apps. LLM will be at the core of Siri. Siri uses a more conversational and competent generation AI, similar to how gpt-4o and Google's updated Gemini Live are starting to work. The virtual assistant will also be able to respond to more queries with direct answers.

Other Software Previews: IOS18 and AI have been the subject of most rumors before WWDC, but it's not the only one on display. macOS and iPadOS plan to get their own updates.

Like iOS18, iPadOS18 is expected to integrate new AI capabilities.I am confident that many of the AI features of iOS18 will be introduced to iPadOS. Outside of AI, the update might give the iPad a native calculator app.

The biggest changes coming to macOS15 sound visually visible, especially in settings apps, calculators, notes, and Safari changes. The calculator app has been adjusted to look like the iOS version. Like everything else, mac OS15 is expected to acquire some AI capabilities, primarily aimed at how the Messages app and voice assistant are integrated. Other than that, there is speculation that the California landmark is what Apple will name the new macOS update.

When Apple launched watchOS10, the smartwatch platform was significantly revamped. watchOS11 is probably not that fulfilling. At best, we expect an improved workout UI and more data tracking like sleep tracking.

There are rumors of a tvOS18 update, but it was a pretty light one. The new Apple TV box has been flipped, but we expect a light update at best, as it indicates that new hardware is not coming.
