Online reports indicate that Netflix may be trying to update its Windows desktop app with some new features, with 1 major drawback. That is to remove the ability to download programs and movies.

This information originally came from a post on X by Artem Russakovskii, who reported a new alert in the Netflix Windows app. This alert lists the "New Windows app Experience" that includes access to live events and ad support plans. Also, the download will no longer be supported, but you can watch TV shows and movies offline on supported mobile devices.

However, there are conflicting reports as to whether this change has occurred. Another user, Trevor62271128, responded with a similar alert, mentioning support for live events and ad support plans, but not removing support for program downloads. 

Nothing clearly indicates which image is the correct alert, or whether both are correct. It is possible that Netflix only notified people who are using the download feature, or the original message was sent incorrectly. At this point, I'm not sure for sure until the update is actually done and I can see if I can download the show in the Windows app.

Social media posts about such new features and changes should always be taken with a grain of salt. Usually it's best to wait and check for reports from official words or actual updates. However, if this feature is removed, it could be a significant downgrade of the service and alienate people who were already unhappy with the Netflix changes.
