Google Gemini's YouTube Music extension brings the power of AI to playlists

The only advantage of Google Assistant over the search giant's AI-powered Gemini tool was the option to control music. This is no longer the case as Google is releasing its new YouTube Music Gemini extension to the public.

As first discovered by 9to5google, the extension allows users to connect YouTube Music to an AI bot, GOOGLE's attempt to compete with CHATGPT, to get some prompts, however, for both Gemini and YouTube Music to work, this account must be the same, the company said.

Users can ask Gemini for music by song, album, artist, playlist, genre, etc. For example, if you ask Gemini to "Play rock Music Radio" or "Play your favorite music", the song will play from your favorite music playlist. Gemini then displays a card that displays album art, artist name, song length and number of views.

In addition to finding and playing music, you can also control playback and play podcasts on YouTube. Below is a complete list of available prompt formats.

The extension is disabled by default, but to enable it on desktop and mobile,次の場所にアクセスしますgemini.google.com/extensions Or you can jump into the extension settings in the Gemini app. Also, if you have the best Android phone, you can ask Gemini to play music, wait for a pop-up to appear, and follow the on-screen instructions to connect.

By enabling this extension, Gemini will have access to your preferences, playlists, and playback history. According to Google, the YouTube Music extension only works with English prompts "for now", meaning that more language options may be available in the future.

It seems that Google is still ironing the kinks with the YouTube Music Gemini extension on the desktop. When you ask to play a specific song, Gemini responds as follows:"I can't help playing the media yet, but I can provide a link to a song in YouTube Music."

The rollout comes weeks after eagle-eyed Android users discovered Gemini's YouTube Music extension ahead of Google I/O2024. In the future, it is expected that the entire suite of Google apps will feature Gemini extensions, including calendar, Keep, tasks, and utilities.
