The iPad Pro OLED already has screen issues, but Apple says there are fixes in the works

Apple's iPad Pro2024 landed calmly this week. However, despite the appeal of the long-awaited OLED screen upgrade, there have been reports of small screen issues affecting certain colors. Apple is aware of the issue and is reportedly currently working on a fix.

The disorder revealed by iMore occurs when viewing certain HDR content, affecting certain shades of blue, such as navy or indigo, that appear as blobs or white streaks. The site discovered a replicable problem during testing of the 13-inch M4iPad Pro.

The reason for the glitch has not yet been confirmed, but because the image processing engine needs to be clear when delineating highlights in that color zone, according to the iMore report, Apple is aware of the problem and is working on software fixes to solve it. However, the company has not yet provided a timeline for the fix, and it has not appeared in iPadOS 17.5, so it may be included in the 17.5.1 update.

One of the aspects that I particularly admired in the iPad Pro2024 review was the recently introduced OLED screen, so the news that the screen is faulty is a concern.1 The iPad screen, when it works, displays stellar images, especially with an Ultra Retina XDR display. But the real strength of the iPad Pro is its ultrathin design and the power of the newly included M4 chip.  This is not the only bug that has attracted attention from Apple, as a patch was recently released to fix the ghost touch issue on Apple Watch.

This problem was first reported on older models in 2020 and caused the watch to register an incorrect touch on the display. Apple recently announced that installing WatchOS10.4 will solve this problem.

The iPad Pro2024 has some issues, but it's still the ultimate kit for those looking for a tablet that works as a laptop. However, we will update this article as soon as we know when the fix will be made. In the meantime, the upcoming WWDC2024 hub will have all the news and rumors about Apple's upcoming show, including the anticipated release of iOS 18.
