Amazon has confirmed Prime Video's "Tomb Raider" series — and it could be as big as "Fallout

Can you believe it? We're getting another video game adaptation, and this time around the "Tomb Raider" franchise featuring iconic character Lara Croft. Fallout has been a recent success with Prime Video and has been trending for more than a month after its release. This only proves that adaptations of well-made video games can be successful, because fans are constantly demanding them.

The "Tomb Raider" game throws you into a world full of adventure as you play a curious explorer named Lara Croft. Since the original was released in 1996, at least 15 games have been released, and the Reboot trilogy is the most popular one. Not only are the latest games more visually appealing, they also provide deeper story and character development for Croft.

"Tomb Raider" also had its own movie, starring Alicia Vikander as the titular survivor and Walton Goggins (from "Fallout") as the antagonist Matthias. But the film version did not work as well as Warner Bros. wanted, and everyone dreamed of a live-action series that could better portray the beloved franchise. Thanks to the confirmation of the prime video, our dream has become a reality.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge will write and produce the Tomb Raider series. She is known for creating and starring in the hit show "Fleabag", creating the show "Killing Eve," and appearing in "Indiana Jones 5" and the upcoming animated film "IF."Crystal Dynamics (Game Studio) and Jenny Robbins will also be executive producers.

During Amazon's upfront event in New York, Waller-Bridge said, "I think if I can tell myself as a 10-year-old that this is happening, she'll explode. Tomb Raider is a huge part of my life and I feel very privileged to bring it to TELEVISION with such a passionate co-worker. Lara Croft means a lot to me, as she does to many, and I can't wait to go on this adventure. Bats'n all.

At last year's Deadline, Waller-Bridge talked about how exciting it is for the "Dangerous" series to involve Lara Croft: "Do something really very dangerous and if I can do something dangerous and exciting with Tomb Raider, I already know that I love Lara." Have an audience of people and hopefully it's a very unusual position. It's an old trojan horse.

No details about the Tomb Raider series have been released. We don't know the plot, the release date, or who will play Lara Croft. All we know is that the show will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and regions around the world.

But there are some things to expect. According to a report last year by the Hollywood Reporter, Amazon has signed a deal to create a Marvel-style franchise that links new games, TV series and movies together. Now that it has been revealed as the "Tomb Raider" franchise, we can expect to see upcoming games and movies as well, which should be tied to both series.

"Tomb Raider" is also part of a deal between Amazon MGM Studios and dj2 Entertainment to make more video game adaptations on TV. Because of this contract, it is better to create an original story, so we speculate that the series does not follow the 2018 "Tomb Raider" movie or the video game itself. That way, future movies and games can be tied to the same story.

The news will probably pop up for this series in the coming months, but if you're interested in video game adaptations, it's also worth checking out upcoming video game shows and movies online.
