even if creator Hwang Dong-hyuk never imagined a show that would last beyond the first nine episodes, with fans onboard again as screenwriters and directors, Netflix officially announced the 2022 season 6 of "Squid Game" on March 2. It was a great experience. Almost 2 years later, there were still not many details revealed about the long-awaited new season of the series about deadly competition for large winnings. "Squid Game" fans had to have a relationship with the reality show "Squid Game: The Challenge", but their wait could soon end.

As the premiere approaches, here's everything we know so far about "Squid Games" Season 2.

The official release date for "Squid Game" Season 2 has not been announced, but production for the season was expected to start in 2023-7 and last about 10 months. In an investor letter for 2024/1, Netflix listed "Squid Game" Season 2 as its 2024 release.  However, major photography has just finished in the spring of 2024 and the season may not be released until later this year to allow for an extensive post-production schedule. It's hard to say for sure, but fans of "Squid Games" can expect a Christmas present for Season 1, more than 3 years after the premiere of Season 2.

As the cast of "Squid Games" Season 2 gets underway, another round of violent versions of children's games will be underway, new characters and returning characters Breakout star Lee Jung-Jae, who has also starred in the new Star Wars series "Acolyte", will play Song Giffords.

Other cast members set to return include Lee Byung-hoon as the game's ominous leader, known as the frontman, and an unnamed salesman who found Gong Yu players to join the game. As. Wi Ha-joon will also return as an undercover police officer Hwang Jun-ho.

Netflix has also announced an extensive list of new cast members, but no information about their characters has yet been revealed. Here are those who will participate in the "Squid Game" for its second season.

There was no official word about the plot of "Squid Games" season 2, but it's safe to assume that the characters will again be exposed to life-threatening versions of harmless children's games in pursuit of huge sums to pay off their debts and rise out of poverty. A new cast member may be playing a new contestant recruited by a salesman to face the demonic game devised by the frontman.

Lee Jong-jae's return as Song Ji-hoon and Wi Ha-joon's return as Hwang Joon-ho indicate that the two characters with a reason to take down the game may be affiliated, and their efforts in sabotage activities can be played along with the hardships of the new contestants. Or they might be pulled back to play the game on their own, even though they are against it.

Creator Hwang Dong-hyuk, who plans to write and direct every episode, also mentions the possibility of bringing back the characters who died in the first season, so season2 could incorporate flashbacks and surprise twists into the events of the first season. 1. One thing fans don't do is rehash the same plot with a new character set.
