2 May announced Disney, Fox Corp.Warner Bros. The Discovery live sports streaming bundle will eventually have a name and release window.

Venu Sports (pronounced like "venue") will debut in the fall of 2024. Between the NFL on May 9 and the NBA and NHL on May 10, the joint venture assumes that the goal is to start around the start of at least 1 season of these sports.

Variety reports that the launch relies on receiving regulatory approval.  Pete Distad, CEO of Venu Sports, said in a statement: "venu Sports is a brand that we feel captures the spirit of an all-new streaming home where sports fans outside the traditional pay-TV ecosystem can experience an incredible collection of live sports in 1 place."It's a very important thing," he said.

Previously Apple's Distad was announced as head of Venu Sports on May 3. At Apple, we managed the operation and global distribution of Apple TV+.

A trio of media companies own a portfolio of sports networks that are combined to carry sports programs. Below is a list of sports channels owned by each company:

For its range of channels, Venu accesses numerous leagues, conferences and specific sporting events Below is a list of just a few of the sports available:

College sports, College football playoffs and marketing This includes major events like the Team Madness Basketball Tournament,

Unfortunately, pricing and a more specific launch date had not been announced.

This delay may be due to competing factors. Shortly after the joint streaming venture was announced, the trio of companies were sued by "Sports First" streaming service Fubo.

The antitrust lawsuit was just recently set for a preliminary injunction hearing on 8/7. This could be a difficult battle for the company, as Fubo is playing against 3 companies with powerful law firms.

Earlier this month, Fubo partnered with DirectTV and Dish Network to call on Congress to review the state of competition in the pay-TV market. They view the Disney/Fox Corp/Warner Bros. as a particularly serious concern.I mentioned Discovery partnership.

At the same time, the Justice Department plans to probably review the venture and consider anti-competitive practices. On May 4, 2 congressional Democrats expressed concern that Venu was anti-competitive.

Comcast has just announced the Netflix-Peacock-Apple TV+ streaming bundle, and a cable-like bundle is rapidly going on, whether Congress is involved or not.
