The animated TV adaptation of the video game franchise "Fallout" was a smash hit for Amazon, attracting more than 2.9 billion minutes of viewing in its first five days, setting a new weekly record for the platform.

The series has officially been renewed for a second season and is already in production. No release date has been given yet, but given the huge success of season one, Amazon is likely trying to ramp up production on new episodes to make a 2025 release possible.

Next year still seems a long way off, but if you're looking to recapture the futuristic, apocalyptic, or sci-fi vibe of "Fallout," here are a few select shows that might hold up through next year, including five "Fallout"-like shows that are sure to be a hit, and which will be released in the next few years.

Based on the acclaimed "Wool" trilogy of novels, "Silo" dives into a dystopian future where humanity survives in a massive underground structure ruled by an iron fist. Those who question the established order are forced out of Silo and punished with a painful, slow death in the wasteland above.

The story follows Juliet, the new silo sheriff, who is assigned to investigate several mysterious deaths. Digging deeper, she uncovers a huge conspiracy hidden by the silo's ruling class that threatens the very foundations of the society she thought she knew.

Featuring an excellent performance by Rebecca Ferguson ("Dune") and a twisty storyline that keeps viewers on their toes, this drama will definitely appeal to those who enjoy exploring the social implications of a closed, apocalyptic society.

Widely hailed as one of the best video game adaptations ever made, HBO's "The Last of Us" follows a devastating Cordyceps fungus outbreak that infects most of humanity and overnight transformed into zombie-like monsters. With no cure in sight, the last of humanity fights to survive in this existential crisis.

The first season follows Joel, a smuggler who loses faith in humanity in the wake of a Cordyceps outbreak. However, there is a glimmer of hope in teenager Ellie, who appears to be immune to the fungal infection. Joel is ordered to take her to a medical facility and find a cure, but with every threat from both humanity and Cordyceps, the two must face a cruel and unforgiving world to give humanity one last chance to survive.

Another post-apocalyptic drama, "Station Eleven" is unique in its use of a nonlinear structure to explore the cultural effects after a flu pandemic completely destroys a population. Viewers experience this through the eyes of Kristen, who was still a child when the pandemic broke out.

Kristen grows up surrounded by a sense of unspeakable loss and fear as society collapses, but her attempts to reshape society through art and performance as she fights to truly live in a world that connects her to the pre-pandemic world and requires more than survival tools finds a strange comfort in the story of Station Eleven, an in-universe graphic novel that fuels the desire of the

Based on the real-life nuclear accident widely known by the same name, the historical drama "Chernobyl" recreates the 1986 accident. The film depicts the events leading up to the explosion at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in Ukraine and the sacrifices made by rescue workers and nuclear workers to contain the disaster and prevent further catastrophes.

Although very dark in tone and unrelenting in its depiction of the human toll of disaster, "Fallout" fans may appreciate the series' unflinching look at the realistic costs of nuclear power.

Filled with "hard" science fiction concepts such as parallel worlds, bioengineering, and time travel, "Fringe" follows Olivia Dunham, an FBI agent assigned to a mysterious division called the Fringe Division. To understand these puzzling phenomena, Olivia works with brilliant but eccentric scientist Walter Bishop and his son Peter, who together hold a mysterious connection to another world that could threaten the very existence of our world.

The sci-fi drama "Fringe" began as an "X-Files"-style look at the supernatural, but by the second half of the season it had grown into a more serialized drama that explored the strength of family bonds and the devastating impact of seemingly well-meaning lies on multiple worlds.
