Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra Battery Specs Revealed - and Bad News

Next year's Galaxy S25 Ultra will undoubtedly receive a number of upgrades, but battery life capacity does not appear to be among them. To keep component costs down, Samsung plans to maintain the same 5,000 mAh battery capacity and fast charging speed first introduced in the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

This is according to well-known leaker Sawyer Galox on X, as first spotted by Wccftech. Another leaker, PandaFlash, expressed disappointment over the battery capacity and fast charging capabilities that are supposed to be included in Samsung's upcoming flagship, and cautioned potential buyers to keep their expectations low.

In a follow-up tweet, Galox wrote that the laminated battery technology originally intended for the Galaxy S25 Ultra is instead slated for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. This is a denser version of the battery that can deliver more power without an increase in size, but it also requires a cooling system to keep the phone from overheating." It seems that was the plan, but Samsung changed its mind, wanting to cut costs and put a laminated battery and 65W charging speed into the S26U," he wrote.

This is a bit of a déjà vu moment, as Samsung was previously rumored to be upgrading to a stacked battery system in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, but apparently that never happened. The last time the Galaxy S series upgraded its battery was with the Galaxy S22 Ultra, which now has 5,000 mAh, up slightly from the S21 Ultra's 4,000 mAh.

However, while the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may have the same 5,000 mAh battery as the Galaxy S23 Ultra, testing shows that it lasts considerably longer on a single charge. flagship smartphones, it outperformed both the iPhone 15 Pro Max and the Pixel 8 Pro, and came in second, just one hour behind the overall winner, the OnePlus 12 (with a massive 5,400mAh battery).

It makes sense that Samsung would keep a close eye on manufacturing costs. As we've already heard, Qualcomm plans to raise the price of its Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 application processor to power tomorrow's best Android phones.

Knowing this, it will probably come down to the display and power efficiency of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The Galaxy S24 Ultra's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip took a huge leap in battery life when we tested it, so the S25 Ultra's battery capacity remains the same, there is still a good chance that the S24 Ultra could offer longer battery life.

With state-of-the-art battery technology, the Galaxy S25 Ultra will no doubt cut into Samsung's margins. Given that the camera is the centerpiece feature of the Ultra model, Samsung has more incentive to spend time, money, and effort on an upgraded camera setup instead, and early rumors about the Galaxy S25 Ultra's camera suggest that this is very suggest that it is highly likely.
