Beats launches new true wireless earbuds for only $79

While the Beats Solo4 wireless headphones are making headlines today (April 30), they are not the only affordable addition to the Beats lineup: the new Beats Solo Buds will be available in June for just $79.

The Solo Buds, pictured above, are the smallest of Beats' earbuds and will be available in four different colors: matte black, storm gray, arctic purple, and transparent red.

According to Beats, the Solo Buds are the smallest earbuds the company has ever produced, but they still have the thick, full-bodied sound that the company is known for. they are compatible with both iOS and Android and have a battery life of 18 hours.

Speaking of batteries, like the latest AirPods Pro 2, the Beats Solo Buds can be fast-charged via USB-C, which Beats says allows up to an hour of playback on a five-minute charge. They are also compatible with the EU's universal charging standard, which will take effect by the end of 2024.

Beats was once known as a luxury brand, but these days (now part of Apple) it is available at a variety of prices. [At the high end, there is the Beats Studio Pro, which launched at $349/£349/$529 AUD; at the mid-range, the new Beats Solo 4 for $199; and at the low end, the new Beats Solo Buds for $79 and $69 respectively and the old Beats Flex.

Certainly, not all of the new earbuds and headphones are award winners, with only the Beats Fit Pro making our best wireless earbuds list.

However, Beats is not alone in this low price point; brands like EarFun and JLab are launching new inexpensive earbuds every other week.

It's a crowded market, but it's nice to see a big name like Beats unabashedly entering the fray; will the new $79 Beats Solo Buds offer an award-winning, affordable alternative to the Sony WF-1000XM5? Only time will tell, but if you're looking for cheap wireless earbuds, we can help.
