5 Major Netflix Shows Coming Back in 2024 - "Squid Game," "Cobra Kai," and More

It's scary, but we're already a third of the way through 2024, and Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has confirmed that the streaming service has big plans for the last six months of the year.

Netflix has firmed up its content schedule for the remainder of 2024 (according to The Hollywood Reporter), and several fan favorite shows will make their triumphant return. This includes the biggest Netflix original ever, "Squid Game," and the highly anticipated final season of "Cobra Kai," and these are just a few of Netflix's flagship shows returning in 2024. Many familiar faces will appear again this year.

Netflix has yet to announce these returning series, but here are five major Netflix shows that will be getting new seasons before the end of the year.

Let's start with the biggest. The global phenomenon that got everyone hooked on amusement park games and wearing green tracksuits on Halloween will return to Netflix by 2025. While most things about Season 2 of "Squid Game" are being kept under wraps, we do know that Lee Jung-jae will return as Song Ki-hoon and that he will be sporting a new red hairdo. As the sole survivor of the first season of the game, he is on a mission to take down the shadowy organization that created the deadly competition, and the fate of Hwang Joon-ho (Wee Ha-jung), a police officer investigating the game, is also expected to be revealed. Season 2 of "Squid Game" is guaranteed to be a monster hit when it debuts in 2024. Further news is eagerly awaited.

"Cobra Kai" has been a Netflix staple for the past few years, but all good things come to an end eventually, and this sequel series to the classic 80s film "The Karate Kid" stars original movie stars, Ralph Macchio and William Zabka, reunited for what began as a YouTube premium show before moving to Netflix for a third season, and Netflix has confirmed that season six will be the show's final installment, promising "an epic conclusion to a decades-long karate saga." While it will be sad to say goodbye to these beloved characters once again, at least a new "Karate Kid" movie starring Jackie Chane will be released in 2024 to fill the gap left by the conclusion of "Cobra Kai." [For Emily Cooper (Lily Collins), the drama never ends, and "Emily in Paris" Season 4 will once again feature the American marketing executive caught up in various love affairs in the picturesque European capital. This Season 4 will see Gabrielle (Lucas Bravo) rebound from the cliffhanger ending of Season 3 when she reveals that the lover who dumped her is pregnant. In addition, Emily is dealing with her own relationship turmoil after being dumped by her boyfriend Alfie (Lucien Laviscant), whom she (correctly) suspected was still in love with Gabrielle. Season 4 of "Emilie in Paris" is sure to show off some romantic twists and chic outfits. [The drama is streaming seasons 1-3 of "Emily in Paris" on Netflix. Gabriel Basso stars as Peter Sutherland, an FBI agent on the night shift at the White House, in this thriller series, where almost every scene has a twist and a shocking revelation. At the end of season one, Peter is given the official rank of night agent after helping to catch a government double agent and sets off on his first mission. It is unclear where Season 2 will take the spy, but we do know that Amanda Warren and Brittany Snow have joined the cast and that this second season will debut before the end of the year.

"The Night Agent" Season 1 is now available on Netflix

The outrageously titled "Dahmer - The Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story" dominated social media buzz for several weeks in September 2021. While Dahmer's story is well-told, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan have adopted an anthological approach, drawing inspiration from Murphy's American Horror Story. The second season is called "Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Story" and follows the shocking murders committed by the brothers in the 1980s.

Without a famous serial killer hook like Jeffrey Dahmer, and without star Evan Peters, the second season of "Monster" may face a battle to replicate the massive audience numbers of the first season. Of course, true crime has proven to be a very reliable bet for Netflix, so the dark show, which premieres on the streaming service in 2024, is expected to be quite popular.
