New rendered image of Google Pixel 8a leaked

Google I/O 2024 and the announcement of the Google Pixel 8a is approaching. Usually, there is a surge of leaks leading up to a phone's launch, but this time it's Google, and a torrent of information is expected to hit the web before the launch. The latest is a series of renderings by longtime leaker Evan Blass.

Blass posted a series of renderings showing the Pixel 8a handset in four different colors from three different angles, including the front and back; since the Pixel 8a looks almost identical to the Pixel 8, there are no particular surprises to be seen here.

From the back, we can see a full-length camera bar with two camera lenses and a flash module. However, the coloring of this bar is in sync with the rest of the phone, resembling the Pixel 7a's camera bar rather than the more metallic looking bar of the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro.

Rumors suggest that these cameras will also resemble the Pixel 7a, with an expected 64MP main camera alongside a 13MP ultrawide. On the front, the Pixel 7a is expected to feature a 13MP selfie camera and a 6.1-inch display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Like other Pixel phones, the power and volume buttons are on the right side of the device. There is also a fairly heavy bezel around the screen, like the Pixel 7a, but commenters on Blass's X account have complained about how chunky it is. Frankly, this is a Google-esque design flaw.

In terms of color, these rendered images suggest that we will see the phone in porcelain-like shades of white, black, mint green, and light blue. None are particularly outlandish, although the blue and green options look quite vibrant.

The Google Pixel 8a is also expected to run on the Tensor G3 chipset and will likely have many of the same AI features (such as Magic Editor) as the Pixel 8. It is also said to have a 4,500mAh battery, 27W fast charging, and up to 256GB of storage. Prices, however, may rise another $50, starting at $549 this year, unfortunately.
