New on Prime Video and Freevee in May 2024 - All the New Shows and Movies You Need to See

Amazon Prime Video and its free ad-supported sibling service Freevee are set to deliver new TV shows and movies in May 2024, and both streaming services have plenty to offer.

Available this month on Prime Video, The Idea of You stars Anne Hathaway as a single mother who becomes romantically involved with the 20-something singer of the world's biggest boy band. Early reviews are raving about this romantic comedy, and it looks to be in Prime Video's Best Movie Roundup.

Other May standouts include the third installment of the popular series "Clarkson's Farm" and the highly anticipated second season of "The Outer Range." Meanwhile, new additions include "Maxton Hall" and "The Goat."

This is just a small sampling of the new content arriving this month. Below is a list of all the new content that will be available on Prime Video and Freevee in May 2024.

"Not So Much About You" is a romantic drama that explores the unlikely relationship between Solène (Anne Hathaway), a 40-year-old single mother, and Hayes Campbell (Nicholas Galitzine), the 24-year-old lead singer of the hottest boy band in the world. A chance encounter brings these two together, and from there a whirlwind romance begins. However, Hayes' public life and superstar status present many obstacles for the two to overcome, and Solène discovers that a life in the spotlight is not as desirable as it appears from the outside. The Idea of You premiered at South by Southwest in March to rave reviews and held a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes prior to its release on Prime Video.

"Clarkson's Farm" was a major success story for Prime Video. The documentary follows outspoken host Jeremy Clarkson as he attempts to build his own farm business from scratch. The farm, which Clarkson named "Diddley Squad," faces all kinds of challenges, including severe heat, the impact of skyrocketing inflation on the cost of essential supplies, and the possible closing of his beloved farm store. Needing a creative solution for quick cash, Jeremy wants to turn hundreds of acres of uncultivated forest into profitable space. Cue all the ridiculous plans and half-baked schemes.

Based on Mona Casten's best-selling novel "Save Me," "Maxton Hall: The World Between Us" is the story of Ruby (Harriet Herbig-Matten), a quick-thinking scholarship student at the ultra-exclusive private new teen drama series, in which she inadvertently witnesses an explosive secret at Maxton Hall Academy. Self-absorbed millionaire heir James Beaufort (Damien Hardung) is determined to stop Ruby from spreading the truth, but he is unable to buy her silence and is forced to keep her company for the time being. However, their initial dislike soon turns into passionate sparks, and the two, who come from different worlds, may have more in common than they first thought.

Prime Video is hoping to make its next reality show a big hit with "The GOAT," an over-the-top contest that brings together a dozen reality superstars with $200,000 in prize money. The contest moves all the way to GOAT Manor, where contestants must compete in more than 20 challenges to earn the title of "best ever" (and prize money, of course). Participants also have the opportunity to earn or break the trust of their peers, adding an extra strategic element. Hosted by charismatic comedian Danial Tosh, "The GOAT" looks like the chaotic game show we've all been waiting for.

Streaming on Prime Video beginning May 9

Prime Video's sci-fi western "The Outer Range" returns for its second season this month. The first season, starring Josh Brolin as rancher Royal Abbott, who discovers a strange phenomenon on the edge of the Wyoming wilderness and fights for his land and family, blended together a variety of elements to form a (mostly) satisfying whole. In Season 2 of "The Outer Range," the stakes are even higher as the Abbott family, including Royal's wife Cecilia (Lili Taylor), struggles to come together in the wake of a devastating disappearance. Threats are coming from all sides, and things will only get more intense as the show's intriguing characters push deeper into the dark void that threatens to engulf them.
