Roku is bringing more innovation to the display industry with its new Roku Pro Series QLED TVs featuring Mini-LED backlit panels with 120Hz refresh rates, AI image improvements, and multiple OS upgrades. [Available in 55-, 65-, and 75-inch models and officially available today at various retailers including BestBuy, Amazon, and Walmart, Roku, which starts at just $899 for the 55-inch configuration, firmly defends its position as the best TV under $1,000 while offering some offers some exciting display advances.

For Roku, an entirely new TV product line is not enough; the company has also announced OS upgrades that will allow users to further personalize their home entertainment experience. This includes artistic backdrops and dynamic adjustments with Roku Smart Picture, as well as several other improvements to content discovery.

The new Roku TVs are an exciting follow-up to last year's Roku Plus Series 4K QLED TVs. The new Roku Pro Series QLED TVs feature a 120Hz 4K panel in a 1.9" shadowbox frame. Mini LED backlighting supports contrast and highlights, while HDR10+ and Dolby Vision IQ support HDR.

Under the hood is a quad-core processor with AI under the tagline Smart Picture Max. It can also automatically determine the optimal brightness based on the ambient brightness of the room.

Gaming was not an afterthought despite the low price, as the Roku Pro series also includes AMD FreeSync Premium Pro along with both ALLM and VRR, in addition to a 120 Hz refresh rate. The automatic gaming mode can instantly change the display to the desired format without having to fiddle with settings, making it potentially the best gaming TV in Roku.

The Roku Plus series was highly acclaimed for its sound profile, and the newly released Pro series should be no different, thanks to a pair of horizontal Dolby Atmos speakers. While it is not necessary to have the best soundbar available, Roku's Pro Series has a headphone mode and the possibility of scalable surround sound with an alternative Roku speaker system.

The Roku Pro Series QLED TVs are available today starting at $899 for the 55-inch model and up to $1,699 for the 75-inch configuration. Wall mount kits are also available for $99.

With the launch of the new Pro Series, Roku is bringing exciting OS upgrades to its entertainment system. Namely, these upgrades include a Samsung The Frame-like Backdrops mode, which acts like art deco wallpaper when the TV is not running, and the aforementioned Roku Smart Picture feature.

Backdrops includes an entire catalog of art and other abstract designs that can be used as the centerpiece of the main display to turn your living room into a museum. You can even create a more personalized atmosphere with the best Roku TVs by selecting your favorite family photos or uploaded digital art.

Smart Picture Mode is essentially an AI-powered upgrade feature that allows the display to dynamically change color tones, backlight, and uniformity to suit a particular scene. It also synchronizes with the specific picture mode being used to find the best color and brightness for that image.

These new features will be available on the entire Roku lineup, not just the Pro series, so everyone can experience the upgrade without having to purchase a new TV. However, Roku TVs purchased before spring 2024 will need to enable Smart Picture mode in the settings, while the Pro series and beyond will be enabled right out of the box.
