Apple Pencil 3 is coming soon.

The upcoming Apple Pencil 3 may include new features that expand the possibilities of tactile commands.

After the iPadOS 17.5 beta code was released to developers on Tuesday, 9to5Mac pointed to evidence of a new "squeeze" feature for the Apple Pencil that has not yet been released.

Since the current generation Apple Pencil does not appear to have a pressure sensor on its surface (the Apple Pencil 2 appears to only have a pressure sensor on its tip), these clues could complement the release of the latest iPad Pro and iPad Air next may shed light on the Apple Pencil 3.

According to Bloomberg, Apple's upgraded line of tablets is rumored to be released in May.

It is not clear at this stage how the next Apple Pencil's "squeeze" feature will be triggered, but its name suggests that it will be pressure-based and could help users use speedy commands such as adding text, shapes, signs, and stickers. Possibly.

According to further rumors picked up by 9to5mac, the Apple Pencil 3 may also feature a replaceable magnetic chip.

There is also talk that future editions of the Apple Pencil will go beyond tablets and support the Apple Vision Pro.

For those on a limited budget, Apple introduced an inexpensive Apple Pencil last October. Priced at $79, it is more basic, as one might imagine, and lacks features such as pressure sensitivity and wireless pairing and charging, but it does have a sleep mode to preserve battery life and USB-C charging compatible with the iPad 10th generation.
