Analyst Says iPhone Flip May Be Canceled - But There's Good News

Experts have expressed concern that the iPhone Flip will never become an actual product, but Apple appears to be developing it for the foreseeable future.

According to a DigiTimes article, some analysts have lost hope of seeing an Apple foldable iPhone due to recent reports that the iPhone Flip may be released in Q1 2027 instead of Q4 2026 as previously rumored The company says that it is. The difference of only three months is enough to strike fear into these unnamed analysts, who say that Apple may give up on the foldable due to concerns about the quality of the display.

However, DigiTimes also claims that Apple is still considering two different foldable phone concepts. And some of the Apple staff who were involved in the development of the Vision Pro headset have reportedly been transferred back to headquarters to help with the foldable.

In addition to this, LG and Samsung's display divisions are reportedly in talks with Apple to develop a flexible display for the foldable iPhone, featuring smooth folds and anti-reflective materials. While it may be some time before this work is realized, it does not appear that the iPhone Flip is doomed.

Apple analysts are likely to be sensitive to Apple canceling projects now in development.

This is certainly a shocking development, and perhaps suggests that Apple is not in an experimental mood now that it has introduced the Vision Pro to the world. However, unlike the Apple Car, the iPhone Flip is based on an existing product category for Apple, and many of its suppliers have already helped make some of the best existing foldable phones. Even if Apple continues to take its time, we are likely to see a number of new foldable phones this year, including Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, and Google Pixel Fold 2.
