Key features of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may not work properly in certain cases.

Samsung included an S Pen in the Galaxy S24 Ultra as one of the more unique features than the standard Galaxy S24 model, but it can be difficult to draw with the S Pen when using certain cases.

As early users of the Galaxy S24 Ultra and its related accessories have shown, cases with magnetic attachments, such as those designed to work with MagSafe or the new Qi2 wireless charging standard, make the S Pen work erratically.

YouTuber M. Brandon Lee demonstrates this issue in an X/Twitter video, where the S Pen becomes unresponsive in the area directly in front of the magnetic field when a magnetic accessory is attached to the back of the S24 Ultra.

It is worth noting that the Galaxy S24 series does not support the Qi2 charging standard itself. However, Qi2 mounting uses magnets, like MagSafe, to align the phone (or phone case in this situation) with the wireless charger.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra and its accessories are currently only in the hands of a few users. Therefore, it is not known at this time whether these are isolated incidents or whether they affect everyone who pairs their S24 Ultra with a MagSafe/Qi2 compatible case.

This was not an issue reported by users when using the Galaxy S23 Ultra last year. However, Samsung made a number of design changes in transitioning to the Galaxy S24 Ultra, notably flattening the edges of the display and adding a titanium frame. Perhaps one of these changes, or another hidden change made in connection with them, is to blame.

It is not clear if there is a fix for this, or if accessory makers will have to redesign their products, or simply warn users to remove all magnetic peripherals before doodling with the S Pen. X/Twitter user Alex Stankie, a member of accessory maker Moment, claims they are working on this issue.
