TCL to Launch Five Cheap Smartphones at MWC 2024 - What You Need to Know?

If you are looking for a budget phone in the near future, TCL has released many low-priced phones The company may not have the same brand recognition as the rest of our list of best cheap phones, but they have released more than enough phones to make it worthwhile

TCL just announced a bunch of new "50 series" smartphones at MWC 2024 Five of them will be available in the US, and all of them are under $250 This is perfect for those who are fed up with the ever-rising prices of the best Android phones like Samsung's Galaxy S24 Ultra and Google's Pixel 8 Pro

These prices come with some sacrifices, so don't expect the latest and greatest mobile technology or generative AI in these devices However, TCL told me they are currently interested in two things: bringing low-cost 5G to the masses and offering a more eye-friendly experience with their NXTPAPER technology

The first phone to come out is the TCL 50 XL 5G, which will be available on T-Mobile's Metro in Q2 2024 for as low as $159 The phone has a 678-inch display with FHD resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate, a triple-lens camera system consisting of a 50 MP main lens, a 5 MP ultrawide, and a 2 MP depth lens, plus an 8 MP selfie camera Inside are 128GB of storage, 6GB of RAM, a microSD card up to 2TB, and a 5,010mAh battery that supports an 18W charging speed [The TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G is a phone with TCL's NXTPAPER 30 display, not yet available in North America; TCL's NXTPAPER goal is to provide a screen that harmonizes refresh rate, performance and eye comfort This means using a matte display that does not reflect light and provides a reading experience similar to that found in e-readers, albeit without the use of electronic ink The TCL 50 XL NXTPAPER 5G will be available on TCLcom in Q3 2024 at a price of $229

The TCL 50 XE 5G and TCL 50 XE NXTPAPER 5G will also be available in Q3 for $149 and $199, respectively Both models feature 66-inch HD displays, 90 Hz refresh rates, 8 MP selfie cameras, and dual-lens cameras with a 50 MP main lens and 5 MP ultrawide Inside are 4GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a Dimensity 6100 chipset, a 5,010 mAH battery, plus 18W charging

Finally, there is a very inexpensive option called the TCL 50 LE This phone will cost about $99 and will ship to an unspecified number of customers later this year Details on this phone have not yet been released, but given the price tag, it is likely that the phone will come with very bare-bones specs

There is a lot more going on at MWC2024, so be sure to check our ongoing coverage for all the best news and announcements from the show
