Just weeks after Meta released its AI voice, ElevenLabs and DeepReel collaborated to create an AI version of two-time world champion Formula One driver Fernando Alonso, now at Aston Martin Aramco
“Ailonso” (I admit I laughed) “makes team content more accessible and further personalizes fan engagement,” as explained in a blog post by ElevenLabs
They brought AIlonso to life by combining ElevenLabs' voice cloning, already used to make James Dean read Peter Pan, with DeepReel's AI avatar technology
The Aston Martin F1 team outlined Ailonso, stating that it is “designed to make our website more accessible and further personalize our fan engagement”
Ailonso is based on ElevenLabs' Audio Native platform, which allows users to embed the player in news sites and blogs
Aston Martin adds: “On the team's official website, you can hear Ailonso, Fernando's AI voice, read out selected articles in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and French, using a brand new text-to-speech feature
This is a synthesized version
This is one of the most powerful features of synthetic voices and has raised alarm bells among labor unions Synthesized speech can translate words into any language and maintain the accent and tone of the original speaker
You can already try it out with the “Ailonso player” available in an interview-style piece with the man himself Sounding relatively natural, the AI shifts perspectives and talks about himself in the first person
The real Fernando Alonso said in a statement: “The AI content tool is an exciting project for me and my team, and we are delighted to present Ailonso to our fans around the world”
He added: “I am very excited to be working with Ailonso
He added: “We have the most passionate fans in the world and connecting with them is very important to me This is a great opportunity to further interact with them through multiple languages”
So which sports superstar is next? Thierry Henry's AI any day Outside of sports, Eleven Labs recently added Deepak Chopra to its iPhone app, bringing new life to meditation and affirmations on the go
