Oops! Samsung Galaxy A55 full specs and price leaked on retail site

We've been hearing a lot about the Samsung Galaxy A55 lately, and according to one leak, the phone could be announced on March 11. Whether or not that is true, the release date does not seem too far off, as the phone has been temporarily listed on a German retail site.

Department store Otto has temporarily launched a page featuring the Galaxy A55, revealing images and specs of the upcoming mid-range phone. The original page has now been redirected to Samsung's Galaxy Tab S7, but the original has been captured and is accessible via the Wayback Machine.

There is not much on this page that we have not already heard from other sources. But a real retailer's sales page is a more reliable source than leakers on Twitter. So what can we expect from the Galaxy A55?

The Galaxy A55 is set to feature a 6.6-inch Super AMOLED display and offer FHD+ resolution. No refresh rate was mentioned, but the screen is made of Gorilla Glass Victus and appears to offer a maximum screen brightness of 500 nits; the Galaxy A54 used Gorilla Glass 5, so this glass material would be an improvement. Inside the Galaxy A55 is an Exynos 1480 chipset, 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, up to 1TB of microSD expansion, and the same 5,000mAh battery as last year. We expect some efficiency improvements to further extend the A54's battery life, which was 10 hours and 20 minutes in our tests.

In addition to the 50MP main camera, the A54 also has a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 5MP macro lens with up to 10x digital zoom. Sorry, but there is no telephoto lens. If you want a telephoto lens, you will have to buy a Samsung Galaxy S24 or wait for the Galaxy S24 FE. The front camera is 32MP and all four camera lenses look pretty similar to last year's model.

Other notable features include 25W fast charging (no mention of wireless charging), Dolby Atmos support, and the ability to record video in 4K. The phone, like other Samsung phones on the market, runs on Android 14 with OneUI 6.1.

Interestingly, the 128 GB model of the Galaxy A55 is listed at €479, which is €10 less than the Galaxy A54's initial €489. This does not necessarily mean that the price will be lower in the U.S. €489 is roughly $534, which is already considerably higher than the A54's $449.

While regional pricing is not a good indicator of how much the phone will cost in other countries, the €10 discount is a good omen that the Galaxy A55 will not be raised. However, we won't know for sure until the launch date, March 11 at the earliest.

We will tell you more once the Galaxy A55 is officially announced, but judging by these leaks, it may be able to make our best budget phone list. In the meantime, you can catch up on all the latest news and rumors in our Samsung Galaxy A55 hub.
