Those with access to the iOS 16.1 beta and using the first-generation AirPods Pro will have a little surprise today: an all-new feature in Apple's AirPods Pro 2 that amplifies ambient noise, Adaptive Transparency toggle has been added. This is a great feature for driving in heavy traffic or working in an office.

Despite its sudden appearance in the configuration of the first generation model, it is unclear if it is currently functional. On the one hand, this new AirPods Pro 2 feature seems to be a mistake, as it utilizes the H2 chip, which is only found in the latest AirPods models, but the iOS 16.1 beta version includes a new AirPods firmware Users have noticed that the iOS 16.1 beta includes a new AirPods firmware update that appears to enable this feature. Unless there is confirmation from Apple, this is a real toss-up.

This is an honest mistake, as Apple has previously included incompatible options on their devices, and unfortunately this feature may not work; the 16.1 beta version fixes the copy-paste bug.

AirPods Pro 2 has adaptive transparency as well as a number of other features that were definitely not added to previous versions.

Most notably, the new AirPods have twice the noise-canceling capabilities of their predecessors, six more hours of battery (for a whopping 30 hours of battery life), and Apple claims that the touch controls are more responsive.

They also guarantee that the AirPods Pro 2 has adaptive transparency.
