Wind Waker and Twilight Princess Could Come on the Switch — What You Need To Know

Last week, Nintendo announced that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword will be released on Nintendo Switch later this year. But this may not be the only classic Zelda game to be re-released. New rumors suggest that "Twilight Princess" and "The Wind Waker" will join the Zelda 35th anniversary lineup. [This is according to Andy Robinson of the Video Games Chronicle. He claims that the HD remasters, originally released on the Wii U, will be coming to the Nintendo Switch this year.

"Tact of the Wind" is, of course, the long-awaited Zelda title that fans have been waiting for since the Nintendo GameCube days. Thanks to its unique visual style and game design, it was highly acclaimed upon its release and has since been labeled as one of the best video games of all time. it was released on Wii U in 2013 with some new content and improvements, but like many other Wii U titles like many other Wii U titles, appears to be coming to the Switch as well.

Twilight Princess was a Wii launch title. And while not as well-received as Tact of the Wind, it was still incredibly well-received. In fact, it was the best-selling Zelda game until the arrival of Breath of the Wild. The Wii U version also featured improved visuals, exclusive content, and Amiibo support.

Robinson has a pretty good track record when it comes to leaks, accurately reporting the existence of "Super Mario 3D All-Stars" months before Nintendo finally announced the game. With the release of "Tact of the Wind," "Twilight Princess," and "Skyward Sword" this year, there is more than enough to celebrate Zelda's 35th anniversary.

Nintendo has a ceremony-packed schedule this year. Mario's 35th anniversary celebration runs through March 31, while Pokemon's 25th anniversary celebration takes place this weekend. So Zelda will have to wait. But there's still plenty to come, at least in 2021.

One can only hope that this is not the limit of Nintendo's plans. We're still waiting for more news on the Breath of the Wild sequel, but the franchise's 35th anniversary would be the perfect time to give us more details. Even if the release is another year or two away.
