How to Watch PS5 status of Play Live Stream Now

Update: The Sony State of Play live blog has launched.

A new episode of the State of Play series dedicated to Sony news will take place today. In addition to the latest news on third-party and indie titles announced at last year's PS5 Showcase in June 2020, the show will also feature the announcement of new games for PS5.

Sony's State of Play event is like the electronics giant's version of Nintendo Direct, with game updates planned for PlayStation users well beyond 2021.

The State of Play is the best way to stay on top of what will be announced for PS5, and if you want to catch all the news, we suggest leaving your schedule open for a short time on Thursday (February 25) and go to the official PlayStation stream at We recommend that you do so.

From debut trailers to launch dates to behind-the-scenes coverage, the State of Play event will provide information that will color PS5 coverage in the coming months and inform what to expect beyond that. Here's everything you need to know about how to watch this week's event.

The PS5 State of Play event will premiere on Thursday, February 25 at 5:00 PM ET. That's at midnight today, but don't worry; you can always re-watch the show at another time using Twitch's VOD or YouTube's archived videos. Sony is always making these videos available, and individual trailers and other public content that would normally be split into separate videos are also freely available.

According to Sid Schuman, senior director of SEE Content Communications on the official PlayStation blog, the show will run for "30 minutes or so, give or take." State of Play is usually pre-recorded, so even with a tight schedule, there should be no worries about running over time.

Sony's PS5-specific State of Play broadcasts are available on PlayStation's official Twitch and YouTube channels. If there is any lag in the audio or video, or buffering issues, you may want to open both streams to see which has the highest fidelity. These streams can be viewed anywhere you have access to the Twitch and YouTube apps.

This State of Play episode will feature new game announcements and updates from the games unveiled at the PS5 Showcase in June 2020. This could include games such as Pragmata, Ratchet and Clank, Rift Apart, and Returnal, which were recently delayed to 2022: Rift Apart, Returnal, and Deathloop, which have been in development for some time. Titles known to be in development for some time will also be included. There are also a number of third-party and indie game updates in the pipeline.

Sony has remained silent on a sequel to "God of War" (tentatively titled "God of War: Ragnarok"). There is also Horizon Forbidden West, a sequel to the well-received Horizon Zero Dawn. Most recently, additional titles like Bend Studio's "Days Gone" were confirmed for PC. Further news could come in the future on which platforms the former PlayStation exclusive titles will be released.

The official PlayStation blog has confirmed that there will be "updates and deep dives" for 10 games coming to both PS4 and PS5, which will fill the entire show. The show also cautions viewers not to expect updates focused on PlayStation hardware or business this time around. This episode will be all about the game.

It is not uncommon for major announcements to be made during State of Play presentations, so it is possible that an update on Square Enix's "Final Fantasy XVI" will be announced. You never know what will happen, so it would be best to dive in and see, with an open mind and low expectations, except for what has already been explained to you.
