Samsung's amazing micro LED TV is coming in a new 76-inch size

After years of waiting, Samsung's MicroLED TV is finally available. Just don't count on being able to purchase one.

Samsung's new MicroLED TVs are the first to feature Samsung's new MicroLED display technology, which promises to rival OLEDs in overall picture quality and even offer better longevity than OLED panels.

Editor's note: Samsung has revealed a release date for its newly announced 76-inch MicroLED TV, not at the end of 2021, but "in the future" undecided.

According to Samsung, the 110-inch MicroLED TV will be available this April. At the time of this writing, no details on pricing were available.

Mike Kadish, product marketing director for Samsung TVs, was unavailable for information on pricing, except to say, "I won't go into specifics, but this is our most premium consumer product."

Along with a huge screen composed of more than 8 million micrometer-sized LED pixels, Samsung's MicroLED TV boasts some impressive technical specs: the 110-inch screen is the size of four 55-inch screens combined, and the TV's "high resolution, high resolution, high resolution, high resolution, high resolution, high resolution, high resolution, high resolution, high resolution. Samsung's new MultiView feature allows the massive screen to be split into simultaneous window displays with different inputs and channels operating independently.

MicroLED TVs also boast a 5.1 channel speaker setup and Object Sound Tracking.

The massive TV also features Samsung's top-of-the-line Micro AI processor, which handles video processing, upscaling of low-resolution material, and optimized HDR content.

The Korean MicroLED TVs will also come with a seven-year warranty, although Samsung has yet to confirm this detail for the North American model.

However, the 110-inch model is not the only MicroLED TV Samsung will sell this year. The next size, a 99-inch MicroLED TV, will also be available this spring and will go on sale in April or early May of this year.

The third model, Samsung's MicroLED TV, will come in a slightly more affordable 88-inch size this fall.

Finally, in a surprise announcement as part of Samsung's Unbox & Discover event today (March 2), Samsung will also have a 76-inch version of its MicroLED TV, which will appear later this year.

Samsunt TV's Kadish could not give an exact date for when the new 76-inch model will be available, but said, "It is safe to assume that it will be quite late this year."

Editor's note: Samsung clarified that the late 2021 date is not official and that the 76-inch model will appear sometime in the future.

No pricing details are available for any of the above models, but from conversations with Kadish, it is clear that Samsung is positioning the MicroLED TV as an ultra-premium product.

From what we have seen so far of pre-order prices for MicroLED TVs in Korea, a 110-inch MicroLED TV sells for 170 million won (US$152,000), which would certainly be a significant premium price.

However, there is a silver lining for those interested in spending more money on a TV than on an Aston Martin Vantage. Korean pre-orders include perks such as limousine consulting sessions, JBL luxury speakers, Nujas massage chairs, and free premium appliances such as Samsung Chef Collection designer refrigerators with Italian-designed doors. One package even includes airfare and accommodations for a vacation on the island, including playing on the links with professional golfers.

Whether the U.S. version of the MicroLED TV will come with such a lavish pre-order package remains to be seen, but it is certain that the 110-inch MicroLED TV will be priced around $150,000.
