Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 leak just revealed the color and design

Thanks to newly leaked details, we have some idea of what Samsung's Galaxy Watch 4 will look like.

A tweet from leaker chunvn8888 claims that up to four potential color options are coming for the next Samsung wearable, shedding some light on the smartwatch's external and internal design as well.

Leeker said that the Galaxy Watch 4 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 4 look a lot like the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 and Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. The new Galaxy Watch again uses a rotating bezel to navigate menus, while the Galaxy Watch Active does not.

The design of these watches was already attractive, but if you were hoping for an overhaul of these wearables, it seems you were out of luck.

The biggest progress, however, comes at the software level. Instead of Samsung's Tizen OS, which has been used by previous Galaxy watches, it appears that Google's own wearable OS, Wear OS, will be used.

Whether this is a wise move for Samsung remains to be seen. On the one hand, it is a smart move because it could mean a big improvement for other watches that use Wear OS, as Samsung could incorporate the apps available in the Tizen Store into Google's wearable OS. It could also make Samsung's wearables more compatible with other Android phones.

However, one could argue that the new OS will likely strain the battery life of the Galaxy Watch and could even slow or halt the rollout of new features by Samsung. for opinions for and against WearOS, See WearOS in its entirety.

As for color options, Chun claimed that the smartwatch will share the same colors as "this year's (in)Galaxy Z." Looking at the current color rumors for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 or Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3, it appears that black, green, beige and light violet options are on the cards.

Previous rumors have said that the new centerpiece feature of the Galaxy Watch 4 will be blood glucose monitoring, especially for users with diabetes. Iterative improvements may also be expected in the watch's basic specs, including chipset, RAM, storage, and battery capacity.

The new Galaxy Watch is expected to arrive this fall. The Galaxy Watch 3 appeared last September at the same event as Samsung's Galaxy Note 20. However, since the Galaxy Note 21 is not likely to appear this year, the most sensible option would be for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch Active 4 to appear along with the Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3.

The Galaxy Watch 3 is in second place in our Best Smartwatches guide, not to be outdone by the Apple Watch 6. There are many changes in the next generation Galaxy Watch, and we don't know if Samsung will take the lead or if the quality will drop significantly. We eagerly await its release later this year.
