The outside world just got a big frame rate boost on the PS5 and Xbox series Xbox

Thanks to improved frame rates on PS5 and Xbox Series X, the sci-fi RPG "Outer Worlds" now runs smoother than ever

The update, which completely removes the frame rate cap on PS5 and Series X, was released as a patch from Obsidian yesterday along with the new DLC "Eridanos' Murder," was released yesterday as a patch from Obsidian. Unfortunately, Xbox Series S owners will not benefit from the faster frame rate at this time.

While there is still no confirmation from the developer as to how much of a frame rate boost is available, many PS5 and Xbox Series X users have reported on Twitter that they are enjoying a smooth 60 FPS while playing the game.

The patch also fixes several other issues, including a bug that "sometimes prevented Gnoka's facial animation from updating during conversations," a more accurate description of the "robophobia" flaw, and an improved progress saving process.

Debuting in 2019, "Outer Worlds" is a sci-fi role-playing game comparable to Bethesda's "Fallout" series. In our hands-on review of Outer Worlds, we were particularly impressed with the deep character customization, combat experience, and the variety of adventures you can indulge in along the way.

According to our gaming editor, it is "tight, creative, and reminiscent of the best RPG design."

In the "Murder in Eridanos" DLC, players will use the "Discrepancy Amplifier" gadget to unravel the mystery of Halcyon Helen's murder, travel the skies of Eridanos, and gather unseen clues.

The DLC is available for download on PlayStation, Xbox and PC and can be installed on its own or added to the game's Expansion Pass.
