Master & Dynamic has introduced a new true wireless earphone, the MW08 earbuds, with a design that combines stainless steel, machined aluminum, and ceramic plates that will undoubtedly make the AirPods Pro look cheap
The same goes for the price, which will be $299 when the MW08 goes on sale on March 30 That's $50 more than Apple's Bud's MSRP, but Master & Dynamic has upgraded the hardware significantly
The MW08, which preceded the sporty MW07 Go and the noise-canceling MW07 Plus spin-off, is the long-awaited full successor to Master & Dynamic's MW07Active noise cancellation (ANC) returns in the MW08, this time with two different modes: Max ANC is designed to cut through louder sounds on airplanes and trains, while the MW08's Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) mode is designed to cut through louder sounds on trains and planes
Similarly, MW08's Ambient mode offers a choice of Voice or Awareness settings: Awareness increases the volume of common environmental sounds such as traffic noise
The IPX5 waterproof rating of the MW08 is a step up from the IPX4 waterproof rating of the MW07, and Master & Dynamic aims to improve sound quality by replacing the 10mm drivers in the previous earphones with 11mm beryllium drivers for Bluetooth 52 connectivity, high-quality aptX codec will also be supported
Battery life is listed at 12 hours on a single charge, with an additional 30 hours of use in the shiny metal charging case This is with ANC turned off, but even with ANC enabled, it appears to last about 10 hours on a single charge This is more than the AirPods Pro's 45-hour lifespan by a wide margin
Again, all of this in a very impressive earphone that updates the traditional Master & Dynamic "D" shape and features the most premium material selection to date It will be available in colors, and it is worth noting that at $299, it is priced high, but not higher than the MW07 Plus at launch
