The first PSVR2 game just revealed — what you need to know

Sony has confirmed that PSVR 2 is now available for PS5 and will offer a more immersive experience using many of the features of the DualSense controller. 6 games have already been announced for PSVR this year, paving the way for the next generation of headsets, but PSVR 2 also announced its first dedicated title.

Pavlov Shack is a scaled-down version of Pavlov VR, a CS:GO-like tactical VR shooter that is free to play; Pavlov Shack is currently available on Oculus Quest, and developer Vankrupt Games has just confirmed that it will be released.

Vankrupt Games founder and CEO David Villarreal announced the news on Twitter, along with a price that will be $24 "at the Oculus Store and everywhere else." He said the studio decided on a flat price across platforms to "reduce TOS conflicts between Steam, Oculus, and PlayStation."

A beta version of Pavlov Shack will also be rolled out and will be "free wherever applicable."

Villarreal further stated that Pavlov Shack will not be offered on the original PSVR headset.

The game is the first to be officially confirmed for Sony's next-generation VR headset. At the PSVR Spotlight earlier in the month, six new games were introduced that will be released this year for PSVR. [After the Fall, Zenith, Fracked, Song in the Smoke, Doom 2 VR Edition, and I Expect You To Die 2: The Spy And The Liar. All six games will be released this year for PSVR, which is compatible with the PS5 through the use of a special adapter available for free from Sony.

We know that PSVR 2 will not be released this year, as Sony has made clear in the announcement of the new headset, but we did get a peek at the PSVR 2 controller. Sony is ditching the PS Move wand and making a dedicated peripheral similar to the Oculus Touch. Sony is serious about backing this next generation of VR, so expect more games for PSVR 2 to be announced in the lead up to launch.
