The new Sonos and Ikea Wi—Fi speakers are coming - what you Need to know

Sonos and Ikea have collaborated on a new series of Symfonisk speakers; according to PocketLint, Sonos announced the Symfonisk update on its Instagram page, and the Verge reports that two new speakers are on the way.

As the Table Lamp and Symfonisk Bookshelf Speaker showed, Sonos and IKEA's speaker series is designed to blend in with the furniture in your home. The Wall Art Speaker would be the epitome of hiding in plain sight.

PocketLint covered an unnamed "wireless device" FCC filing by Sonos and Ikea. This could very well be the wall art speaker revealed by The Verge, although it is unclear whether the speaker is part of the frame or the art print itself in the latter. This is pure speculation on our part, but since Ikea sells a huge variety of art prints, it might make sense to incorporate the symphonisque speakers into the frame.

The new table lamp, on the other hand, will feature a new design, but will cost $179, almost the same as the current model. It is unfortunate that there is no new version of the bookshelf speaker. Still, the Table Lamp is not very expensive by Sonos standards, and the new Symphonisque speakers can be expected to have the same compatibility with Sonos' multi-room speaker systems.

Sonos is generally preparing for a busy 2021. In addition to these new Ikea Symfonisk speakers, the company's first ultra-portable wireless speaker, the Sonos Roam, will launch this month, judging by Sonos' Instagram post and the aforementioned filing date with the FCC, which is yesterday (April 6), new Symfonisk speaker seems pretty close to release, there are whispers of Sonos headphones as well.
