Ratchet & Crank: Lift Apap PS5 Trailer unveiled riveted, Women's Lombacks

Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is just a few months away from release. Sony's State of Play, scheduled for April 29, will bring Rift Apart to the forefront and provide plenty of gameplay through June. More importantly, we finally learned that the mysterious woman Lombax's name is Rivet and that she is one of the game's main playable characters.

The information comes from the official PlayStation Blog, where Marcus Smith, creative director of Insomniac Games, shares a large amount of information about the characters and music of "Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart" and a large amount of information about the music. A new trailer has also been released.

The big news here, We finally have a name for the mysterious Lombax woman who appeared in Rift Apart's first trailer: it's Rivet, and while Rivet's identity is unclear (the author's guess is "an alternate universe version of Ratchet"), we do know she will play a major role in the story. In fact, in the trailer, she is teamed up with Clank to traverse the levels, Ratchet-style, which means she will be the fifth playable character ever in this long-running series. (Followed, of course, by Ratchet, Clank, Captain Quark, and Dr. Nefarious.)

Smith also discussed the soundtrack for Ratchet & Clank: "Rift Apart" by composer and Devo frontman Mark Mothersbaugh. He also spoke about the soundtrack for "Ratchet & Clank. Mothersbaugh not only makes some very weird and fun rock music, but has also composed offbeat music for other video games, anime, and movies, including "Crash Bandicoot," "Rugrats," and "Thor: Ragnarok." Three tracks are available now: "Rift Apart," "Ride Through the Omniverse," and "Ode to Nefarious.

But this Ratchet & Clank news doesn't stand on its own; it only fuels the anticipation for the Sony State of Play on Thursday, April 29 at 5 pm ET/2 pm CST. There, in addition to what Sony hopes to showcase at the occasional PlayStation showcase, you'll get to see a full 15 minutes of Rift Apart gameplay. [That's all the new information we have at this time; Smith is calling for reservations for Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart for the June 11 release date. He is particularly eager for the more expensive Digital Deluxe Edition, which includes a large number of extra skins, plus a digital soundtrack and art book. The digital deluxe edition costs $80, while the base game costs $70.
