PS Plus2021年5月: Battlefield 5, Strand Deep, etc.

May is fast approaching, and with it comes a slew of new games for PlayStation Plus.

Next month will be a good mix of AAA titles and indie games. Even if you don't download them right away, be sure to add them to your library.

Starting Tuesday, May 4, PS4 titles Battlefield 5 and Stranded Deep will be available for free download; PS5 purchasers will get Wreckfest: Drive Hard, Die Last These titles will be available on PS Plus subscribers will be free to add them to their library and download them at their leisure as long as they subscribe to Plus.

Last month's PS Plus titles will be available until May 3, so be sure to add them to your library before then.

Released in 2018, Battlefield 5 plunges players into the midst of World War II and offers an enhanced multiplayer mode. In addition to the classic team deathmatch, Dice inevitably jumped on the battle royale bandwagon and added a new Firestorm mode to the game.

The destructible environments are still as destructive as ever, and the maps are truly stunning. If you've been waiting for Battlefield 6 and missed out on Battlefield 5, you can now join for free.

Stranded Deep is still in Early Access on Steam, but a full console version was released last year on PS4 and Xbox One. It is definitely one for those who enjoy survival games, but a common criticism of the game is that its systems and mechanics are quite shallow compared to other titles in the genre.

That's not necessarily a bad thing! Games like "The Forest" and "Rust" are challenging in their own way, but can be a bit boring. Add to that the fact that they're free, and paddling around on a raft trying to live your best life doesn't seem so bad.

Wreckfest was released on PS4 last year, but a PS5 version was announced for release in June; PS Plus members will get this revamped version for free in May.

Wreckfest is priced at $39.99, and PS4 owners can upgrade to the PS5 version for $10 in June. In other words, this is a real $50 savings with this bonus. Upgrades include improved shadows, particles, and environmental lighting; higher-resolution textures; god rays; DualSense haptic effects; and more. A full list of improvements can be found on the THQ Nordic page.

The May lineup is by no means spectacular, but we are looking forward to the early release of the PS5 version of Wreckfest.

Offering it for free to PS Plus subscribers is a great move ahead of the official launch, which will come with a price tag for the upgraded version. There also remains a good mix of games to satisfy the palates of different gamers.
