The color of the new PS5DualSense controller could come soon

Ever since Sony announced the PS5, its colors and design have divided the player base. However, it appears that there may finally be an official product announcement that gives gamers a way to customize their color scheme, at least in the dual-sense controller department.

According to The Gamer, Spanish website Areajugones claims that sources with access to Sony employees have suggested two new DualSense colors that will be available "soon." If red and black, or black and gray, are your thing, you're in luck.

The original article appears to have been removed at the time of writing, but this site has sniffed around before regarding PlayStation leaks.

The PS5's black and white aesthetic is a departure from the traditional black rectangles of previous generations; while the Xbox Series X and PS5 hardware can be customized with unofficial skins and faceplates, Microsoft continues to offer the Xbox Wireless Controller in a wide variety of color variations.

Microsoft introduced Pulse Red earlier this year and Electric Bolt and Day Strike Camo in March. Sony, however, has yet to offer an official alternative to its standard offerings.

Sony will eventually follow DualSense's lead, as the PS4's DualShock 4 controller comes in a variety of color variations. The only question is when. Sony has previously teased a "more beautiful (and hopefully radical) special edition" (via VG247) of the console.

Matt MacLaurin, PlayStation's VP of UX design, has said that "customization with special editions will be unlike anything we've ever done before," but we haven't heard anything on that front yet. However, news of a new dual-sense option is promising and indicates that the rumored Special Edition may finally be on the way in the near future.
