PS5xbox Series to get 25 New Exclusives to Fight Xbox

With the launch of the PS5 and Xbox Series X, the gaming battle between Sony and Microsoft has shifted to the battle for exclusive software. And Sony plans to counter Microsoft's aggressive acquisition of ZeniMax Media in the form of exclusive titles.

In fact, Sony has announced that it will bring 25 exclusive titles to the PS5, half of which will be original content. This news comes from an interview with Wired, where Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, teased that Sony has a lot planned to offer top studios and a strong content lineup, even with only a few PS5s left in stock ...

Hermen Hulst did not reveal specifics. He did say, however, that the games would span "a variety of genres, big and small." Fans will not only get a new IP, but also a variety of gaming experiences.

This makes sense considering the developers under the PlayStation Studios umbrella: Santa Monica Studio, Guerrilla Games, and Insomniac Games have each released "God of War" sequels, "Horizon Forbidden West, and the aforementioned Ratchet & Clank.

Unfortunately, Hulst did not mention a release date. No word on when these games will be announced, much less released. Sony has had a mixed track record when it comes to delivering titles on time. The Last of Us: Part II is a perfect example of a game whose release date kept getting pushed back. And in the case of a game like "The Last Guardian," that means a whole generation of consoles, expectations and skepticism.

This is clearly Sony's move against Microsoft. Given the success of Game Pass and Microsoft's acquisition of ZeniMax, Sony must do whatever it takes to bolster its exclusive games. Ideally, however, this may have been Sony's plan all along. The goal has always been to sell consoles by offering the best possible gaming experience. Hopefully, Sony will ship enough consoles so that fans can actually purchase these games.
