The release date for Nvidia GeForce RTX3080Ti has just been teased — what you need to know

Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3080 Ti could be finally revealed on May 31, with the graphics giant teasing a GeForce event.

Team Green did not explicitly state that they would be taking the cover off the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, but this date and recent press reports suggest that this graphics card will appear soon, alongside the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti.

The event will be streamed live via the YouTube and Twitch platforms at 10pm PDT/6am GMT/ 1am EST June 1. The announcement was made via the official Nvidia GeForce Twitter account, with an 11-second video revealing the live stream schedule.

Sadly, aside from the cryptic caption "Get Ready," Nvidia did not include any details about the event.

After numerous rumors of a delay, the release of the upcoming GeForce RTX 3080 Ti may finally happen within days. The graphics card was initially rumored to be a 20GB upgraded version of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080. Since then, one leak has said that the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti will have 12GB of GDDR6X memory, still an improvement over the GeForce RTX 3080's 10GB.

It is also speculated that, like the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3090, the RTX 3080 Ti will have a 384-bit bus, which will give the graphics card a noticeable increase in memory bandwidth over the RTX 3080.

Speaking of memory, some leaks also point to the fact that the GeFroce RTX 3080 Ti will also feature fewer CUDA cores compared to what was said in earlier leaks. The manufacturer reportedly plans to equip the upcoming RTX 3080 Ti GPU with 10,240 cores, which is 256 cores less than what was originally expected.

We also heard rumors that both the upcoming RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti will feature a hash rate limiter to prevent large purchases of Ethereum miners. This could improve the availability of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 for the average consumer who is already having trouble figuring out where to buy it.

However, this would not exactly guarantee better availability than Nvidia's base RTX 30 series GPU models.

Our Gaming Editor Marshall Honorof explained that due to the global semiconductor shortage, "for the time being, GPUs will be a luxury item, and the two new GPUs will require the same semiconductors as other graphics cards on the market. Therefore, availability will be limited, prices will be high, and the purchasing process will be competitive.

And as for pricing, the GeForce RTX 3080 Ti is expected to cost around $999, which is between the GeForce RTX 3080 ($699) and RTX 3090 ($1499).

Both the Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti and 3070 Ti cards have already been spotted in Razer desktop configurations, based on listings on Tmall, the official Razer PC vendor in China.
