Ratchet & Clank: How to Unlock Rift Apart RYNO8 — Complete Spybot Location Guide

WARNING A little spoiler alert for Ratchet & Clank: this article

Versions of RYNO have appeared in almost every Ratchet & Clank game to date. The duo's latest Ratchet & Clank game is no exception: Rift Apart is no exception. This super-powerful gun is not only capable of opening portals to other dimensions, but is also the game's most deadly weapon.

Be sure to unlock it before facing the game's final boss. RYNO in Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart is unlocked by collecting all 10 hidden spy bots and returning to Mr. Zurkon at the weapons shop.

These adorable little bots are scattered throughout the various planets you explore. Most are easy to spot, but a few are quite hidden. But don't worry, there are plenty of them out there. Below are the locations of each of these spybots and how to unlock useful gadgets that will allow you to track them easily.

If you want to track down Ratchet & Clank's spybots: If you want to track down Rift Apart's spybots even easier, the Map-o-Matic is an essential gadget. This handy tool marks the locations of all the spybots (plus the Golden Bolt and Raritan supply) on a map.

Map-o-Matic is located on the pirate planet Aldris and is associated with an optional objective marked "Treasure Hunt" in the mission log. This side quest can be started after rescuing Pierre Le Fail from the pirates in the main campaign.

Overall, it is a fairly short side quest that requires clearing several rooms with enemies before receiving the prize from the treasure chest. If you follow the blue markers on the map (which spawn automatically when you first land on the planet), you will soon have the Map-o-Matic.

This gadget can only be unlocked later in the game, as Aldris is the eighth planet you visit. However, once you have the Map-o-Matic, you can return to the planets you have explored before and pick up the missing Spybot before the game enters its thrilling climax.

The first Spybot in the game is associated with the first optional objective, "Search the Factory."

This optional objective will automatically appear in the mission log after arriving at the main market square in Nefarious City. Follow the mission marker and climb up the side of the building on the right with the Gravity Boots.

Doing so will bring you to a passageway, through which you will find a series of factories, including a simple platform challenge. After this you will encounter several enemies. This section is extremely linear, so follow the path and you will find Spybot in a large pipe at the back of the factory.

You cannot return to the main quest without picking up the Spybot, so once you start the optional objectives, you are essentially guaranteed to pick up the little robot.

The first time you go to Sargasso, you will not be able to retrieve this spybot. You will have to wait until later in the game when a new optional objective for the planet called "Help Trudi" is unlocked. You will know when this quest is started because it will appear in the mission log when you select the planet from the ship.

This quest requires collecting small purple items called Zurpstones and feeding them to a dragon-type creature called Trudi. After completing the first two relatively easy parts and collecting the 30 Zurpstones scattered around the map, you must collect the remaining 30 with Trudi's help.

You can now fly on Trudi's back. This will make it easier to collect the remaining zurpstones. Never mind the few stones on top of tall structures that seem impossible to collect; after collecting 45 Zurpstones, Trudi gains the ability to breathe fire.

Once you have collected all 60 zurpstones, return to Mort, who gave you the quest.

There are actually two spybots on this planet, neither of which is available on the first visit.

The first spybot on this space station requires the Hurlshot gadget, which is automatically unlocked during the storyline of the sixth planet, Torren IV. Once you have this tool, there is a yellow Hurlshot node to the right of the entrance to the Zurkey bar. This node allows you to jump to the floating platform where the spybot is located.

The second Spybot in the Scarstu Debris Field is associated with the arena challenge. Specifically, you need to finish a gold level challenge called "Vroom Around" where you have to defeat a boss in low gravity. The gold challenge is not unlocked until later in the game, so this may be the last time you collect Spybot.

In the northeast corner of the map, there is a broken bridge next to a waterfall; jump across the two intact platforms to reach a huge cave with a pirate ship. (Looks like something out of The Goonies.)

Use the slingshot node to jump out onto the deck of the wrecked pirate ship. There is a Spybot here. Note: Pick this up and be prepared for a (fairly easy) fight, as the ambush will begin.

Blizar Prime's Spybot is associated with a side quest. This is called "Find the Missing Chef."

This optional objective can be started from the main mining platform on the interdimensional version of the planet. It is quite difficult to miss this quest, but remember that there are map markers available.

Once you locate the missing chef, he will ask you to protect the honey extraction machine from waves of enemies. Once this is done, the chef will give you a Spybot as a reward.

Note: Several players have reported that this mission is buggy. Sometimes waves of enemies do not spawn, or enemies get stuck in the lava pool at the back of the arena. You may need to restart several times to successfully complete this quest.

This spy bot is easy to miss. In the facility's main forge (you'll know it's there because a cutscene will play as you enter), the Spybot is on a ledge above the main door just inside the room. Use the ledge to pull up the body and get the Spybot. It is not available in the abandoned facility dimension.

After using the slingshot and wall-run ability to platform across the large gap, just after the level starts, turn immediately right instead of going straight and enter Little Junkton.

This alley leads to a magnetic passageway. Running down this passage (but beware that two insects will attack you) will lead you to an underground cavern called Spike's Cavern. Spybot should be right in front of you.

After freeing Pierre Le Fail from the pirates, which is part of the main quest, stand at the start of the Speed Beetle Course.

After passing through the first ring of flames on this course, turn sharp right and follow the single path in front of you to a small island with Spybot.

Crawl through the ventilation shaft above the processing center and take the first right turn to find a hidden room with the last Spybot.

The hidden room is located behind the pipes and vents, but is easy to find. You will have no trouble finding it. Just don't go down the vent until you collect the bot.
