In honor of International Girls Day, Google Assistant has gained the ability to recite more than 25 inspiring stories featuring female heroes.

Using the phrase "Hey Google, tell me a girl hero story," the Google Nest Home Hub and other Google Assistant-embedded devices can recite a variety of "girl hero" fiction and non-fiction stories. The new feature is part of Google's "Digital Inclusion for Girls," an imitative that aims to "create opportunities for girls in the digital space" using the search giant's technology. [The idea behind telling girl hero stories is to break the conventions of female characters in fiction and nonfiction, highlighting female protagonists from diverse backgrounds and addressing topics such as leadership and problem solving. [My son is five years old and every day I watch him learn how to see people and the differences between people. It is so important to me that he sees girls and people around the world as heroic, fierce, smart, and successful," explains Rebecca Nascenson, Product Director of the Google Assistant Developer Platform.

These inspiring stories include: "My Sister, Daisy," which focuses on family ties and gender identity, and "Marielle's Sweet Shop," the story of a mother-daughter entrepreneurial duo.

Thus, hearing just one of these stories could be just what is needed to inspire the next female entrepreneur, visionary, CEO, or even the first female U.S. president. After all, inspiration could come from anywhere, even a story told by a Google Assistant over a smart speaker.
