Xbox Series X Quick Resume will get the upgrade we've been asking for

Microsoft has released the May update for the Xbox Series X with some nice improvements to Quick Resume, the centerpiece of this system patch.

The update reduces load times, improves reliability when accessing Quick Resume-enabled games, and lets you know which games are currently suspended.

Quick Resume is a feature that allows the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S to suspend multiple games at once and resume them instantly. This is arguably one of the best features of Microsoft's new consoles, and one that the PS5 does not have.

The improved load times and reliability of Quick Resume are very welcome, but these aspects of the feature were already solid, so what is most needed are additional tweaks. Previously, there was no way to see which games were currently suspended or to quickly identify if a game supported this feature, but thanks to this update, that is no longer the case.

Xbox's Jonathan Hildebrandt also described another new upgrade to Quick Resume in a blog post on Xbox Wire: "Xbox Series X|S gamers can now use Quick Resume to see all currently saved games currently stored in Quick Resume. Using this group, they can see which games are ready to be launched from Quick Resume and launch them from there." This group can also be pinned to the home screen of the game console.

These are definitely small tweaks to Quick Resume rather than a dramatic overhaul, but they will add requested functionality and overall ease of use The theme of the May Xbox update is definitely refinement, with groundbreaking new features added There are no groundbreaking new features, just some subtle but important improvements.

For example, pass-through audio is now supported in media apps such as Disney Plus and Apple TV, the console's set of parental settings has been enhanced, and colorful new dynamic themes have been added to the UI. All in all, these are iterative upgrades, but what Microsoft has done is very welcome.
