One of the biggest announcements in the press release is actually a small one: the OLED maker has announced a new 48-inch OLED, the smallest 4K consumer TV to date.

Premium OLED TVs have been in the larger 55-inch and larger sizes, but this smaller model opens up the possibility of enjoying OLED-quality Ultra HD images in smaller spaces, such as apartments that may be too small to comfortably enjoy a 55- or 65-inch TV!

The most jaw-dropping concept LG will unveil at CES is a 55-inch OLED TV embedded in the wall of an airplane cabin, making the cramped space of an airliner feel a little more open with a panoramic view. because OLED displays can be made flexible, these OLED displays can be made flexible, allowing them to conform to the curves of the airplane cabin walls.

Aircraft seatback entertainment systems could also be significantly upgraded with 13.3-inch plastic OLED (POLED) tablets for personal viewing. Smaller, less expensive OLED tablets offer much better image quality than the LCD sets used in current in-flight entertainment systems, and POLED technology offers better resilience and affordability than LCD or large glass-based OLED screens.

Another possibility for smaller POLED displays is the automotive dashboard. From the center console to the instrument cluster, LG aims to be the display manufacturer behind all visual components of the automobile.

In addition to the dashboard, there are also plans for a 12.8-inch rollable OLED display, which could be deployed to become a rear-seat entertainment system or moved to other locations in the car.

And while the LG Signature R Rollable OLED is expected to hit the market later this year, LG Display is already working on a ceiling-mounted product that deploys downward rather than rising from a floor-mounted base, in an effort to subvert this novel design. Currently called the "65-inch UHD Roll-Down OLED Display," the announcement explains that it will be "stored in the ceiling" and can be "pulled down when needed and rolled up when not in use" through new form factors and mounting options.

This is a big advantage for smaller spaces that don't require a large 65-inch TV at all times, and would provide a smart way to keep the TV out of the way of home decor when not in use.

LG Display also announced new sound technology, including a wafer-thin film-based sound system that brings built-in speakers to the crazy-slim Wallpaper OLED TV.

Details of the new technology have not yet been shared, but according to the company's announcement, this will bring built-in speakers for sound to the 1/4-inch-thick Wallpaper display. LG Display calls this new technology "Film Cinematic Sound" LG Display calls this new technology "Film Cinematic Sound" and suggests that it may offer more channels than the basic stereo or 2.1-channel sound built into many TVs. Current models of wallpaper TVs (such as the LG W9 series) use an attached sound bar, but the TV itself has no built-in speakers.

LG's massive 88-inch OLED TVs, such as those used in the LG Z9 8K OLED, would also be a major step up in the sound department. No details have been released as to whether this system will be based entirely on integrated speakers or utilize independent soundbars and satellite speakers for more immersive listening.
