As you know, Sony is hoping to hold its own event at E3 2020 instead of exhibiting the PS5. However, with no clear date in sight to unveil the PS5, Sony is pulling out of other events like PAX East due to the coronavirus outbreak, making this an increasingly risky strategy. Microsoft, on the other hand, will be exhibiting the Xbox Series X at the Entertainment Expo, and it looks to be a wild one.

Xbox head Phil Spencer recently took to Twitter to let fans know about some of the developments taking place at E3 2020. While he was intentionally vague on the topic, we were able to glean some key information about his announcement. Check out the tweets below:

As you can see, Xbox is planning a "deep game portfolio" for E3 2020 and promises that the console's launch year will be "special." There is also a big announcement regarding the official Xbox Series X launch lineup is likely to be made.

The Xbox Series X will not have any console-exclusive titles, but will feature games designed to be played on the next-gen Series X, the current Xbox One, or on the PC, up and down Microsoft's lineup. In addition, according to a recent poll, only 13% of gamers said that exclusive games were a deciding factor in their console purchase decision.

Titles expected to be shown at E3 include Senua's Saga: Hellblade II, which was unveiled with a stunning trailer during the Xbox Series X announcement at last year's Game Awards.

Also on the horizon is Halo: Infinite. Developer 343 Industries has promised that E3 2020 will be a "big moment" for "Halo: Infinite," and the team will likely remain silent until then. Since "Halo" is more or less the most well-known exclusive title on the Xbox, it is likely that the team at 343 will finally get to see what they are up to with Microsoft's next-generation technology.

Other big titles expected include the cross-platform RPG shooter Outriders, Ubisoft's Gods and Monsters, and many others. With Spencer and the rest of the team onsite at E3 2020, expect more technical hardware reveals as well, rather than the glimpse we got at last year's Game Awards.

It's an exciting time for gamers. As Spencer says, the launch year is special. As the anticipation for both next-gen consoles reaches a fever pitch, it remains to be seen what (and when) the PS5 will be announced as the time approaches. Surely an announcement can't be far off.
