"Death Stranding" PC Release Coming Sooner Than Expected Originally slated for a vague "Summer 2020" release, renowned filmmaker Hideo Kojima has some good news for us gamers: the PC version of "Death Stranding" is just around the corner.

Whether you want to know what the PC version of "Death Stranding" has to offer or if it will run on your machine, here is everything you need to know about the PC version of "Death Stranding".

The PC version of Death Stranding will be released on June 2, 2020. The publisher is 505 Games, and it will be available on both the Steam Store and the Epic Games Store.

The spec requirements for the PC version of Death Stranding are still unknown, but as soon as they are known, this section will be updated with the latest information on hardware requirements. As a frame of reference, remember that Hideo Kojima's previous PC port of "Metal Gear Solid V" was excellent. That game was published by Konami, and we don't know if Kojima Productions and 505 Games will maintain the same PC porting standards with Death Stranding's PC release. According to the game's official Steam page, the PC port will support ultra-wide monitors, have a photo mode, and support "high frame rates" (whatever that means). Presumably this refers to an uncapped frame rate. If you have a powerful gaming PC, you could make good use of it.

The trailer for the PC version of Death Stranding is short, sweet, and simple: only 32 seconds. It highlights the "high frame rate," "ultra-wide monitor support," and "photo mode for the PC port," while also showcasing a fun PC-exclusive item: a Valve item!

Death Stranding's protagonist Sam can be seen at the end of the trailer wearing a "Half-Life" headscrub. Also, at the beginning of the trailer, Sam can be found with a red valve on his head, identical to Valve's company logo.

If you're not sure what Death Stranding is, know that most people who have played it don't know either. It is both a mail delivery simulator and a creepy ghost avoidance adventure. It's also a childcare tutorial where you nurse a baby floating in a yellow water bottle affixed to your chest. It's directed by Hideo Kojima, so if you're at all intrigued by the game, you might want to play it blind to avoid spoilers. But if you want to avoid the possibility of wasting your money on a risqué interactive art piece and want a deeply critical perspective on Kojima's latest multi-million dollar endeavor, check out this danky video.

Naturally, the technically "superior" experience would be to play Death Stranding on PC. However, the game costs $60 at launch on PC, whereas on PS4 it has already been on sale for some time and is discounted by 50%.

By the time the PC version of Death Stranding is released in June, the price of the PS4 version will have dropped even further. If you have a choice of platforms, it may be in your best interest to save your pennies and purchase the PS4 version.
