Lack of Nintendo Switch: The sell-off will be faster, but more people are coming

With so many people stuck with the coronavirus and the release of one very popular exclusive game, it's no wonder the Nintendo Switch is running low on stock.

Nintendo told Gamespot that the very popular handheld/stationary hybrid console is in short supply at many retailers. Those that still have them in stock are limited in number and have raised their prices accordingly.

"Nintendo Switch hardware is sold out at various U.S. retailers, but more systems are expected to ship. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause."

Not that there are no Switch units available anywhere. However, prices are considerably higher than the suggested retail price, even for used game consoles.

Not only has the Coronavirus outbreak prompted people to buy gaming consoles to stay safe indoors, but the recent release of Animal Crossing: has also made a big splash, and sales have increased significantly.

In addition, the older fitness-focused "Ring Fit Adventure" has gained popularity as a way to exercise without having to go outdoors, and its peripherals are in short supply.

The good news is that the Nintendo Switch Lite (which is identical to the standard Switch except it cannot connect to a TV or monitor) is becoming easier to buy, especially when purchased as part of a console and game bundle. However, it is no longer available on Amazon, which would be the first stop for many people looking to purchase.

If you are looking for a Switch yourself, you can check out a list of retailers where you can purchase a Nintendo Switch console.
