Amazon will temporarily stop Amazon's delivery service

There have been new reports that Amazon is shutting down its Amazon delivery service. The news comes just days after another report that Amazon Prime Day may be delayed until August.

Amazon Shipping is a shipping service the e-commerce giant launched in 2018. The service delivers packages from third-party companies that sell on Amazon's site but do not store their goods in Amazon's warehouses; it is a direct competitor to FedEx and UPS, which are both "a direct competitor to Amazon Shipping.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Amazon told shippers that it will stop Amazon Shipping in June. Amazon reportedly told shippers, "We understand that this is a change for your business, and we did not make this decision lightly."

Amazon has experienced a surge in consumer demand, and by stopping Amazon Shipping, the company hopes to redirect resources to fulfilling customers' current orders.

Amazon Shipping is not widely used in the U.S. and will not have a significant impact on consumers' pending orders. In fact, this is another way Amazon prioritizes delivery of essential items.

In addition to suspending Amazon Shipping, the retailer has announced that it will hire 100,000 new delivery workers to meet demand from the coronavirus outbreak.
