Is Nintendo Switch 2 coming in? the new dual screen switch just leaked.

Nintendo may be working on a dual-screen Nintendo Switch, according to data obtained by security researchers in the console's 10.0.0 firmware update.

Mike Heskin, a self-proclaimed "reverse engineer and information science enthusiast," examined the latest Switch firmware update and found what he claims is "preliminary support" for the new Switch model, codenamed "nx-abcd" The company has been working on a new version of the Switch for the past two years. Heskin claims that the support is for a second screen.

In a nutshell, this bit of information could mean that Nintendo is working on a new Switch with a clamshell-like design with a second screen like the Nintendo 3DS XL.

Such a simple codename might raise eyebrows as to how legitimate it is. However, it is consistent with previous codenames used by Nintendo in its firmware, such as nx-abcb, which was the codename for the Nintendo Switch Lite. This is not to say that the new codenames in the latest firmware warrant a new Switch model, but it is an interesting piece of data to chew on.

Nintendo has long utilized dual-screen and second-screen devices, with the Nintendo DS and 3DS handheld consoles being successful and the Wii U, which combines a video game console with a tablet gamepad, less so. Therefore, creating a Switch with an additional screen does not seem like an outlandish idea.

It is not certain whether such a console would be the next-generation Switch or some form of next-generation 3DS that would support Switch games. And given that the only hints about such a console are in the firmware, it is unlikely that we will hear much from Nintendo about a new Switch or 3DS-like console anytime soon.

Nintendo is currently selling a large number of Switch consoles, so much so that it is quite difficult to find them on sale. So there is definitely a lot of life left in the Switch, especially with games like "Animal Crossing": games like "Animal Crossing" in particular are currently very popular.
